Welcome to Eland's Valley. Our cosy country retreat is set in a tranquil thousand acre estate. Quaint stone cottages offer self catering facilities to guests escaping city life to discover the charm of the Mpumalanga Highlands.
We take our name from the Afrikaans "Elandskloof" (as the farm is historically known), given that it's been the traditional breeding ground for the local Eland population for many generations.
Eland's Valley is situated in a prime position near the historic trout-fishing village of Dullstroom, just a couple of hours from Johannesburg and Pretoria. Features include seven trout dams, abundant game and birdlife, plunge pool, sauna, sun deck, vineyard, rose garden, herb garden, orchard, refectory, floodlit tennis court and mountain walks.
Fly-Fishing Dams
Eland's Valley is unique in providing the avid still-water fly fisherman with a challenging variety of productive waters. Whether you prefer to stalk a swirl in a small pond with a dry fly, or work the banks or channels of a large lake from a float tube, Elands Valley offers it all.
A professional stocking programme ensures balanced waters, allowing our trout to feed naturally - without pellet feeding. The result is rapid growth of semi-wild fish that will give you a fight to remember. An active weed control programme together with selective clearing of bank growth provides a selection of choice spots for you to stalk your prey. Canoes, rowing boats, inflatable craft and float tubes are permitted.
If you are planning to catch and release, please fish only with barbless flies, don't fight the fish for too long, and when releasing, keep the fish in the water and make sure that your hands are wet before you handle the fish.
